St Columba’s House, Maybury Hill, Woking GU22 8AB
3rd Mondays of the month, from 10am to 4pm,continuing in September, October and November (NO SESSION IN AUGUST).
Monday Meditations will take place this year in most months, on the third Monday, and are a great opportunity to experience a different aspect of the Christian faith at a venue close to Runnymede. They are quiet reflective days which will include simple Celtic prayers and meditations. The themes are inspired by St Columba’s House initiative to actively seek ways of exploring the rich and creative tradition of Christian Celtic Spirituality.
In the first half of 2010 we will draw on the insights of the Celtic poet, philosopher and priest John O Donahue on the theme of Spiritual Friendship. He opens up beautiful ideas of friendship and helps us to rediscover friendship as a practical spiritual path within the Christian tradition. He speaks of different experiences of friendship : Anam Cara - soul friendship - through belonging; Friendship with the body - through sense; Friendship with the world - through work; Friendship with passing time - through aging; Friendship with death - through mystery In the morning the theme for the day will be opened up by a member of the St Columba pastoral team , followed by time for quiet personal reflection and a bring your own lunch. In the afternoon speaker Vivien Stacey will offer some thoughts on the practical working out of a spirituality of friendship.
Donations would be welcomed. For more information you can contact Vivien on
