Deanery Synod Open Meeting - Picture ReviewA well attended meeting of our local Synod took place at St Peter’s Church Chertsey in June with an interesting programme of speakers around the topic of rising local poverty and debt. One of the Directors and Treasurer of our closest Credit Union, SurreySave, recommended by the Diocese of Guildford, gave a presentation on credit unions and how individuals or churches can get involved; two young ladies from St John’s Egham spoke about Christians Against Poverty’s money courses and debt centre run at their church; and Major Ian Loxley presented the Salvation Army’s “Tin-a-Week” scheme.
