Flower Festival at St Peter’s Church - Picture ReviewThe annual Flower Festival in St Peter’s Church Chertsey, always on the occasion of the Black Cherry Fair, was as spectacular as ever and drew many visitors into the church over the fair weekend. Many local churches and flower guilds, as well as local clubs and institutions were represented with a variety of interesting arrangements. This year’s theme was Famous Personalities and there were offerings from Winston Churchill and Nelson Mandela to Fred Astair and Judy Garland. The photo collage shows Mary Magdalene, Bishop Tutu represented with his splendid colourful native flowers, John Newton, Mother Teresa and the church’s patron saint, St Peter. The Tower, guarded by an arrangement on Chertsey’s iconic Blanche Heriot of “The Curfew Shall Not Ring Tonight” fame was open to the public, all the way to the roof and clear views to Windsor Castle and Wembley Stadium.
