Christmas Tree Festival Renewed Success - Picture ReviewThis year's Egham Hythe Christmas Tree Festival attracted a record 52 local community groups to display decorated trees in St Paul's Church. Groups included local schools, charities, businesses and other organisations. One of the most notable trees was from the Egham Hythe Craft Friends whose wooden tree was adorned completely with hand made decorations - the knitted Santa, sleigh and reindeer a particular favourite. With nearly 1,000 people passing through the doors over the four days the event once again turned out to be a resounding success. Particularly encouraging was the fact that the whole local educational lifespan was on display with trees from local nursery schools, local primary schools, The Magna Carta School, Strodes College and, of course, Royal Holloway, University of London. A large majority of the trees have since been donated to the local charity Besom who will distribute them to families who may not have been able to provide a tree for themselves this year. Co- organiser Steve Baynes said "This is a wonderful opportunity for the Hythe to celebrate all of the different parts of its makeup. The community have firmly embraced this festival and for many it really is the beginning of their Christmas Season."
